Montrose hosts a Harvest Market each Sunday, and an annual Arts and Crafts Festival. Other annual events include Oktoberfest, an Antique Auto Show, Founder's Day, Art Walks, Fiesta Days and the Montrose Christmas Parade. Montrose Community Park is 14.5 acres and offers two ball fields, a basketball court, two tennis courts, picnic areas and a playground. Nearby points of interest include Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Grumman's Chinese Theatre, the La Brea Tar Pits, Farmer's Market, and Angels Flight Trolly Car. Area sports teams include the Lakers, Clippers, Sparks, Kings, and Dodgers. Sunny California beaches, including exciting and eclectic Venice Beach, are just a short drive away.
The 160-acre Descanso Gardens is set in the chaparral adjacent to Montrose. The gardens include 60,000 camellia bushes, a California live oak forest, 4,000 antique and modern roses, 450 lilac shrubs, water gardens, orchids and a Japanese Garden. Nearby Griffith Park provides over 4,000 acres of open space. Griffith Park hosts a world-class Observatory and Planetarium. A merry-go-round, the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, and Travel Town are also located in Griffith Park. There are many public and private golf courses in easy reach of the Montrose community.
